The betting phase of poker involves putting your chips in a central pot, known as the pot. As each player receives their cards, they place bets in clockwise order into the pot. Eventually, the highest hand wins the pot. Once all the players have made a bet, the game ends. However, some variants of poker have an additional betting phase between each new round. A Poker game is played with chips, usually white. When playing with more than seven players, poker chips should be provided. The lowest-value chip is the white chip. The highest-value chip is the red one, which is worth five whites. The blue chip is worth two, four, or five reds, depending on the game. Before a game, players “buy in” by purchasing chips, usually for the same amount. If the number of players is larger than nine, two separate games are organized.
A player in the first-to-act position sits immediately to the left of the big blind and the button. He can then choose whether or not to check his hand. If his hand consists of three out of four of a kind, he is the “nuts”.
